多諳 (多谙) 白亨烈

I am the Chief Professor at KAIST Graduate School of AI for Math since June 2025 and a (tenured) Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at KAIST. I joined KAIST in February 2017.

My main research areas are low-dimensional topology, geometric group theory, and related topics.

I am a topologist but I am interested in questions in a very broad spectrum. Some of my recent works use combinatorics, probabilistic method, number theory, and dynamical systems. For more details, please visit my research page.

I contributed a telephone interview to this report on OpenAI’s announcement of solutions to mathematical problems, discussing the importance of verifying and understanding AI-generated proofs and their value for further mathematical research.
